A top hospitality outfit in Akwa Ibom state, Watbridge Hotel & Suites yesterday marked its second anniversary with prayers and solemn assembly in a ceremony held at the hotel's Mandela Hall, Uyo. The occasion which took a simple outlook with maintenance of good physical distancing and held in compliance with the Covid-19 guidelines against crowding was characterized by prayers, intercessions and goodwill messages.
Preaching on the topic, 'The house the Lord Buildeth', the State Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria(CAN), Rev Ndueso Ekwere exhorted on the need to always place one's efforts in the hands of God, admonishing that 'if the Lord does not build a house, the labourers only labour in vain'. He praised Watbridge Hotel for building a culture of piety and dependence on Divine Guidance prophesying that he could 'feel the presence of God in the hotel's community'.
He ended his short homily by charging the management and workers of the hotel to see their works and efforts as God's calling, believing He will bless them according to their efforts.
Speaking at the occasion, the Chairman Board of Directors of Watbridge, Elder Udo S. Akpan heaped praises on the hotel's management and staff for their contributions to the tremendous growth of the hospitality outfit within a short span of time, urging them to continue to give in their best. He revealed plans to expand on the frontiers of the hotel's businesses to create more jobs for the teeming youth population of the state.
On his part, a top politician, lawyer and advisor to the hotel, Rt Hon.(Barr) Ekong Sampson, accompanied by his wife, Matina, noted that Watbridge had become a household name in not only the state, but country at large and lauded the management for pursuing a unique intellectual course by hosting the Uyo Book Club monthly and supporting other important intellectual engagements.
In his remarks, the General Manager of the hotel, Otunba Sunday Ajayi highlighted that in the last two years, Watbridge had grown tremendously to become a key player in the hospitality sector in Nigeria, noting that the hotel has enjoyed huge patronage within and outside the country and thanked staff for their dedication. The General Manager also remarked that the hotel will continue to maintain an uncompromising commitment to high standards, space and luxury for customer\\\'s convenience as well as its avowed support to education and scholarship.
Otunba Ajayi however bemoaned that the Covid-19 pandemic had seriously affected hospitality business in the year under review, but assured that the hotel will continue to put in place necessary preventive measures like mandatory use of face masks, sanitizer and social distancing in the hotel. The GM further explained that the spacious facility in Watbridge has made it easier to observe social distancing in the hotel's community, pledging total non-compromise to Covid-19 protocols, general health and security issues.
Watbridge Hotel & Suites, which began full operations on December 29, 2018 currently holds the title of 'Akwa Ibom Hotel of the Year Award\\\'.
